Meet Our Students
We are proud of our students and they represent the values of Harmony Hill.
Elias, 4 years old – Sports enthusiast
Elias is in Group 1 and loves to move. He’s especially interested in sports and enjoys every opportunity to explore through physical activity. Whether he’s outside on the playground or participating in active learning games, Elias learns best when his body and mind are engaged together. He takes part in the table tennis program, which was introduced by his mother. Our teachers support his curiosity and help him build focus, teamwork and confidence through movement-based learning.
Sonja, 7 years old – Gifted with languages
Sonja is in Group 3 and moved from Germany to the Netherlands one year ago. At home, she speaks German, and she is now learning Dutch as a new language. To support her transition, she takes part in our after-school book course, where she listens to stories, explores vocabulary, and builds early literacy skills in a playful and encouraging environment. With gentle support and a growing love of language, Sonja is developing confidence and discovering the joy of becoming multilingual.
Theo, 12 years old – Full of creative ideas
Theo is in his final year, he loves being outdoors and participating in PE in his wheelchair, which he can easily do due to accessible facilities and sports curriculum. He is passionate about art and spends much of his time in our school atelier, where he expresses his ideas through painting. The atelier is also the place where he takes part in our pottery sessions. His favorite subject is German, but he especially enjoys the supplementary subjects, where he can develop creative projects that connect language, art and identity. Theo shows how learning can be inclusive, reflective, and full of imagination.
Amara, 6 years old- Curious and bright
Amara is in group 3 she loves learning mathematics Her favorite moments at school are spent in our outdoor learning spaces where she thrives using inquiry-based learning. Amara enjoys hands-on experiments that help her explore how the world works. Amara is autistic, and while she participates enthusiastically in class, she can find the playground environment overwhelming due to loud noises and sensory stimulation. During breaks, she prefers to spend time in the school’s sensory room, where she can relax, this space gives her the comfort she needs to recharge and return to class ready to learn.

A School Day
A typical school day for a year 1 pupil and for a final year pupil
Our Daily Rhythm & Pedagogical Approach: We are aware that many schools might choose to organize their day differently. However, we firmly believe that school should adapt to the developmental needs of children, not the other way around. That is why we have designed a daily schedule that respects children's natural rhythms, fosters deep engagement, and encourages both intellectual and emotional growth.
Each lesson period lasts 60 minutes. Core academic subjects, such as Language, Mathematics, Science, and the foreign language English, are taught in the morning hours. This time frame aligns with children’s peak ability to concentrate and process complex information. Whenever possible, core subjects are taught in double periods to allow for in-depth learning, exploration, and reflection, rather than surface-level coverage.
Our approach also shapes the way we teach supplementary subjects. These include Art, Music, Physical Education, Ethics/Religion, and Practical Skills such as Handicrafts and Woodwork. These subjects are scheduled in the afternoon and taught in thematic weekly blocks. This allows students to immerse themselves fully in one area at a time and engage in meaningful, often collaborative, projects.
Assessment in our school is focused on individual progress rather than comparison. In supplementary subjects, progress is documented by our staff and often presented by students in the form of portfolios. In the core subjects, formal assessments are used where necessary to prepare students for the academic demands of secondary education.

School Song: “Roots and Wings”
Verse 1
Here we stand, hand in hand,
In a place where we can grow.
We learn to care, we learn to share,
To listen, dream, and know.
With kindness in our voices,
With courage in our stride,
We build our world together
With respect as our guide.
Chorus
We have roots that hold us steady,
And wings to let us fly.
We reach for new horizons,
But we’ll always know why:
Because we’re strong in who we are,
With hearts that brightly sing
We grow, we shine, we dream with
Roots and wings.
